About Me
Educated in his native Canada and the UK, Terence McNamee is a specialist in economic development, governance and security issues. After completing his PhD at the London School of Economics, he worked for 8 years at the Royal United Services Institute in London, before serving as Deputy Director of the Johannesburg-based Brenthurst Foundation until the end of 2017. He has convened or led numerous high-level international dialogues and missions on a range of issues. Terence is currently a non-resident Global Fellow of the Wilson Center (Washington, DC) and a frequent advisor and consultant to a range of international clients. He has published articles in Foreign Policy, The New York Times and Financial Times, plus longer works from scholarly essays and compendiums to an internationally acclaimed popular history; and delivered presentations in more than 40 countries. Terence is an articulate and persuasive speaker across varied audiences, with a comprehensive understanding of global development challenges. He has a proven track record as a flexible leader and negotiator, comfortable working in complex environments, and a trusted liaison in high-powered political and business contexts, including as an adviser to a head of state
